The Ryde Band played for the first time this season on the Esplanade near the Castle. Julia drank tea with Fanny at Woodhouse.

Wednesday 2nd June 1858
Miss. Jane Rolf dined with us. In the afternoon I went to Newport. Fanny drank tea with us, after tea I went to Woodhouse, Julia went part way home with Miss Rolf, she left Wootton Villa about half past 8. I had some fuchsias, dahlias etc given me. I arrived home quarter past 9 o’clock.
Wednesday 28th April 1858
I went to Newport had three programme’s of the amateur theatrical entertainment of tomorrow evening given me. In the evening Julia went to Woodhouse. Mr.G.W. gave Julia a beautiful nosegay. Miss J. Brading called to see us .

Julia went to Woodhouse and drank tea with Fanny.
In the evening we went to chapel. The converts this evening were Miss Julia Cooper, Miss Elizabeth Whittington and Mrs Whittington.

Miss Fanny Wall* drank tea with us.
*Daughter of Phillip Wall of Woodhouse aged 20.

In the evening I went to Woodhouse and Balhams Farm, Miss Alford hurt her eye much by a piece of needle striking it.

We took the bed furniture down, in the evening I and Miss Alford went to Woodhouse, I arrived home about 9 o’clock. Mrs. ? was confined yesterday with a son.
